Quality information is more than ever a common good to protect, support, and spread. This is why ANSA, as part of the IDMO – Italian Digital Media Observatory project, develops and implements “Smart News: Survive, Grow, and Fight Disinformation,” a training program designed not only for journalists and communicators but also for students, educators, and citizens interested in navigating the digital landscape with awareness, recognizing fake news, and contributing to the spread of a more critical, transparent, and inclusive information culture.
ANSA’s contribution to the IDMO project consists of two main areas. The first focuses on training, with a structured program of six thematic modules addressing the major challenges of contemporary information: from source verification to crisis communication, from the changes introduced by artificial intelligence to digital security, and the role of media in promoting inclusion and equality. The courses, open even to those outside the information sector, will be held in a hybrid format – both in-person and online – to ensure the broadest possible participation.
The second area covers communication and dissemination activities. ANSA produces and spreads editorial content on key project topics through its digital and social channels in both Italian and English, and organizes public events and live-streamed discussions. This also includes the creation of a dedicated page for the IDMO project on the ANSA portal, a constantly updated space that gathers news, insights, videos, and informative materials accessible to all. This is a concrete testament to the agency’s commitment to fostering a more transparent and aware information ecosystem, in line with the recognition from the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, which, for the seventh consecutive year, certifies ANSA as the most reliable news outlet in Italy.
