On Monday, March 17, 2025, the official awareness campaign against disinformation, promoted by Repubblica Digitale in collaboration with IDMO (Italian Digital Media Observatory), will begin. The presentation event will take place at Europa Experience, Piazza Venezia 6, Rome, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
The Initiative
The Repubblica Digitale and IDMO initiative pays particular attention to the role that acquiring digital skills plays in shaping informed citizens, capable of identifying the right informational channels and recognizing potential threats in this field.
For this reason, the campaign launch has been preceded by two webinars aimed at facilitators from the Digital Easy Points and volunteers from the Digital Civil Service, as well as organizations from the National Coalition for Digital Skills. The goal was to provide them with useful tools to support citizens on disinformation and fact-checking topics. IDMO has also prepared an updated version of the citizen training toolkit introduced during the first edition of the campaign, including this year the link to the anti-disinformation tips created by RAI for IDMO, available on RaiPlay.
The toolkit aims to be a resource for organizations from the National Coalition of Repubblica Digitale and the Digital Easy Points, created by the Department for Digital Transformation under the M1C1-1.7.2 measure of the PNRR, called “Digital Facilitation Services Network,” for spreading good practices against disinformation through the organization of roundtables, seminars, courses, and webinars on this topic.
The Event
After the opening speeches from the Department for Digital Transformation, as coordinator of Repubblica Digitale and holder of the PNRR measures on basic digital skills and IDMO, the event will host a discussion on the campaign topics with two fifth-grade classes from the Istituto Superiore Via Carlo Emery in Rome and testimonials from facilitators of the Digital Easy Points and volunteers from the Digital Civil Service.
The meeting will conclude with a panel discussion, featuring Alessandra Paradisi and Nadia Kerwat (RAI), Tommaso Canetta (Pagella Politica/Facta News), Virginia Padovese (NewsGuard), Davide D’Amico (Ministry of Education and Merit), and Giuseppe Iacono (Department for Digital Transformation of PCM). The panel will be moderated by Massimo De Laurentiis (LUISS Journalism School).
