EDMO’S seminar on climate change disinformation – 9 March 2023

The European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) is organizing a seminar on climate change disinformation, to be held on March 9th, 2023 in Luiss 16:00 – 17:20 CET

Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges facing our planet today, and it requires urgent action from individuals, communities, and governments around the world. Unfortunately, the spread of disinformation and fake news has made it increasingly difficult for people to understand the severity of the problem and take appropriate action.

To address this issue, the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) is organizing a seminar on climate change disinformation, to be held on March 9th, 2023 in Sala delle Colonne (Luiss Campus, Viale Pola 12, Rome) 16:00 – 17:20 CET. The seminar will feature expert speakers, including Paula Gori, the EDMO Secretary General, Tommaso Canetta, the EDMO Fact-checking Coordinator, and Emma Goodman, the EDMO Media and Information Literacy specialist.

The seminar will cover a range of topics related to climate change disinformation, including how it is spread, why it is so dangerous, and what we can do to combat it. The speakers will draw on their extensive knowledge and experience in the field to provide practical insights and advice for journalists, policymakers, and the general public.

One of the key objectives of the seminar is to raise awareness about the extent of climate change disinformation and its impact on public opinion and policy. The speakers will discuss some of the most common myths and misconceptions about climate change, and explain how they can be debunked using scientific evidence and factual information.

The seminar will also highlight the role of digital media in spreading disinformation and the need for more effective fact-checking and media literacy initiatives.

Overall, the seminar on climate change disinformation organized by EDMO promises to be an informative and engaging event that will provide valuable insights and practical strategies for addressing this important issue. We encourage anyone with an interest in climate change, media literacy, and social responsibility to attend and participate in this important event,
